The Barrel & Tub

We recommend adding 15-40lbs (7-18kg) of ice to the Ice Pod per session depending on the initial water temperature. The amount of ice needed highly depends on your tap water temperature, the climate you live in, and how cold you desire it to be. If you live in colder climates, adding ice may not even be needed.

We also offer our XXL Ice Block which makes huge 3lb. ice blocks in your home freezer that will last significantly longer than regular cubed ice.

Since the pod is insulated it will keep the water cold for longer, and you may therefore not have to add as much ice after the first time.

To keep the water clean for long periods of time, we recommend getting our Water Maintenance Pack

This Pack includes 2 months supply of our custom formulated disinfectant & cleanser you need to have perfect clean and clear water.

Using these products, you’ll likely not have to change your water for weeks to months.

If you don’t use sanitizer in your ice bath, we recommend changing the water once per week or every 3-5 sessions.

Yes! The Ice Pod includes a waterproof cover to keep the water clean.

We recommend also adding our Insulated Lid for extra insulation so your water stays cold for longer

To get the health benefits, you’ll need to stay in cold water below 59º fahrenheit (15°C) for three to eight minutes.Cold water therapy works best with the right combination of time and temperature. Each individual is different and some people can tolerate lower temperatures.

The Ice Pod comes with a tap at the bottom for draining. To drain it, connect a standard garden hose with a 1/2 inch male thread-to-hose adapter (from your local home supply store). You can also simply open the tap without a hose attached depending on where the pod is set up.

Yes!

We engineered the pod to be weather and UV resistant, so you can set it up Inside or outside, even in temperatures below freezing. The insulation layer makes the water turn to ice a lot slower, but we still recommend to stir the water at least once a day to keep the water from freezing completely solid.

Please follow the instructions that came with the Ice Pod or watch this video: Assembly Guide

We recommend starting out with your ice bath tub temperature at around 59° Fahrenheit (15°C) if it’s your first time, and then slowly lowering the temperature and duration for each session. That way your body will get acclimated to the cold.

For the seasoned ice vikings, get the water below 50°F to really feel the kick, and stay in for at least 2 minutes for optimal benefits.

The Water Chiller

Yes. The chiller can easily be used with your current IcePod or even any form of other ice bath.

Connect to your existing IcePod (1 drain valve): You simply connect the hose entering the water filter side of the chiller, to the drain valve on your IcePod. And the second hose coming from the chiller outlet, goes into the IcePod over the top ring/edge.

Connect to any other Ice Bath:

You can also connect the chiller to any ice bath, bathtub, bucket – you name it. The chiller comes with pump and filter, so you simply put both hoses from the chiller into any body of water to start cooling it. If your tub doesn’t have a bottom valve to connect it to, you will need to siphon water into the inlet hose to start the circulation, please refer to youtube on how to siphon – this is necessary as the pump can not start the circulation of water if there are air in the hoses.

The Standard chiller can cool up to 130 gal. of water down to 41°F (5°C) in climates with temperatures below 85°F (30°C).

The Pro Chiller can cool up to 130 gal. of water down to 39°F (3°C) in climates with temperatures above 85°F (30°C)

No! The Power usage is only 280 watt, which is comparable to the freezer/fridge in your home.

Example of power usage: at 77°F (25°C) room temperature, and chiller temperature set at 46°F (8°C) will consume around 1.4-1.8 kWh per day (every 24 hours). With todays average kWh in the USA that equals to just around $0.8 per day in electricity cost to run the Chiller 24/7. (These are estimates and can vary depending on the climate and temperatures where you live).

Yes, our Water Chiller has a 20 micron filter with 24/7 water circulation which filters out hair, skin cells, leaves, sand and other debris. Enjoy a clean and clear ice bath at all times, ready for you when you are.

To maintain clean water for extended periods, we highly recommend getting our Water Maintenance Pack

This will allow you to keep the water in the pod for multiple weeks to months without algae, bacteria, scum and odours developing

Be your own judge of the water condition, and change it when needed. But if you choose not to use sanitizer to disinfect, we recommend changing the water every 3-5 sessions or once per week.

We also recommend cleaning the chiller’s water filter once every 1-2 weeks. You simply unscrew the transparent cover, take out the filter, and rinse it with a brush and tap water, or spray it with a garden hose at high pressure. And replace with a brand new filter once a month to not cause damage to the chiller due to restricted water flow.

Assuming each ice bath session requires around 20lbs of ice on average, and with an average cost of $3 per 10lbs, we have calculated that at 5 ice baths per week, the chiller cost is made back in 3-5 months. Then you can also consider all the hassle saved from buying/making ice and the water filtration system built into the chiller saving you lots of water and time.

Investing in the water chiller is undoubtedly a smart financial & time saving decision if you’re a regular ice plunger.

We get this one a lot, but the answer is surprisingly simple. Our core mission at The Pod Company is to make healthy habits accessible for everyone, so you don’t have to sell your kidney to be able to afford a premium ice bath.

Our water chiller is priced lower than our competitors, because we have developed it from scratch using components from chest freezers. We also negotiate the best prices with our suppliers for materials and components by ordering very large stock quantities, streamline our production process to reduce labor costs, and focus on essential features without adding unnecessary ones.

Our water chiller is a high-quality and affordable option for your ice bath needs, without the huge markup most other brands put on their ice baths.

Yes!

The chiller is water resistant, so it will not get damaged from humidity and weather. With that said, we do always recommend keeping it under a shaded spot/cover/shelter/overhanging roof to protect from bad weather and direct sunlight as these factors can negatively impact its performance & lifespan.

Security measures should also be taken such as bringing the chiller indoors if it’s lightning or storming outside.

Important: Please do not cover it with anything like a cover while it’s running as it needs to be able to get airflow so it can cool down, and always have at least 15 inches of space around the chiller.

If you plan on using the water chiller in outdoor conditions where the temperature can reach 85º Fahrenheit (30 Cº) or higher, we highly recommend opting for the Pro version.

The Pro chiller is specifically designed to handle higher temperatures and maintain optimal performance in such conditions. On the other hand, if you intend to use the chiller in a lower-temperature environment below 85ºF or in a garage, the standard version will be suitable for your needs.

The water chiller is very quiet and the readings that we have made range from 40-45 decibel so around the same noise level as a fridge.

Yes, Our chiller is built to withstand all the elements, your water stays clean and cold, even in the hottest climates.

Do be cautious in freezing conditions, and follow the recommendations in the manual that comes with your chiller.

It is essential that your chiller is running 24/7 should the outside temperature drop below freezing, otherwise the chillers pipes and internal tank can get damaged. With consistent water flow this does not happen.

We always recommend emptying the chiller from water by disconnecting the hoses and tipping it, to let water drain out, and thereafter storing it inside in non-freezing conditions until needed again. The purpose of the chiller is to operate in warmer temperatures, to keep your water cold, and there’s no need to have your chiller connected to the IcePod, when it’s freezing outside, as your water will maintain the cold temperatures needed naturally.
